COOKEVILLE, Tenn.- A robbery suspect is behind bars claiming he only did it because he was hungry.

A clerk at Roy's Market in Cookeville told police that Sammy Anderson came into the store Thursday cursing and demanding money. He allegedly jumped over the counter and chased the clerk out of the store with a knife.

Another customer witnessed the scene and called police. When officers found Anderson a few blocks away from the store he told police he tried to rob the store because he needed money for food.
