Marijuana Growing Operation Discovered Near Daycare

MT. JULIET, Tenn. – Police in Mt. Juliet have busted a marijuana growing operation next door to a local church daycare center.

Officials said that on Thursday, July 3rd a Mt. Juliet officer stopped a car because it had an expired registration.

After talking to the driver, the officer went to investigate the reports of domestic assault at her home.

Once at the home officers said they immediately smelled burnt marijuana and later discovered several marijuana plants growing outside one of the bedroom windows in the backyard.Police arrested 46-year-old Timothy D. Wethington.

Wethington's home and grow operation was located near Hickory Grove Presbyterian Church and Green Hill Church, both of which operate daycares that have children present daily.

Wethington was arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail and charged with manufacturing marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of synthetic drugs and having drugs in a drug-free school zone.
