NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two brothers have been arrested in a multi-county theft scheme involving tens of thousands of dollars worth of stolen vehicles, boats, trailers and construction equipment.
Jason and Dustin Nicholson were arrested on July 5 after Metropolitan Nashville Police Department officers, Wilson County Sheriff's deputies, and Nolensville police officers seized property from their two homes.
Police said the brothers stole the property, then traded it or sold it, often on Craigslist. In many cases, VIN numbers and serial numbers were removed.
Police also seized a skid loader worth $50,000 that they believe belongs to a plumbing company in Bowling Green.
Investigators uncovered the operation with the help of Wilson County investigators.
A tip led to two homes near Briley Parkway in South Nashville.
"We got a tip that a stolen Gator was at one of our suspect's address over on Drummond Drive. We went out there and saw the stolen gator in the yard. He was attempting to sell it," said Billy Smith with the Metro Police Department.
Jason Nicholson is a registered ex-con with multiple theft convictions. He was held by the Nolensville Police Department for outstanding indictments. Dustin Nicholson was transported to Wilson County to face charges for the theft of a John Deere Gator recovered at his property.
Additional charges against both men are pending.
