Newborn Goats Found Dumped In Trash In Columbia

Posted: Updated:

COLUMBIA, Tenn.- Police in Columbia are asking for the public's help to identify the person or persons who may have dumped two live newborn goats in a trash can.

Officials said the two baby goats were found by an employee at the Lightning Lube on Nashville Highway on July 9 around 4 p.m. The employee told police that he was taking out the trash when he heard "screams and crying" coming from a dumpster behind the building. When the employee investigated, he found two newborn goats in a burlap feed bag.

The employee called police, although soon after officers arrived the goats died despite efforts to sustain them.

Police said that an early model Chevrolet Z71 pickup truck with two large white tanks in the bed was seen leaving the area before the goats were discovered. Officers said a white man wearing a cowboy hat was driving the vehicle.

Anyone with information about this case was asked to call the Columbia Police department at 931-388-2727.
