NASHVILLE, Tenn.- There is
a battle brewing among the first responders across the city.
At LP Field Friday, the Metropolitan
Nashville Police Department, Nashville Fire Department, and the Davidson County
Sheriff's Office all competed to see who could donate the most blood to the Red
Cross in a contest they call, "Battle of the Badges." The winning
department will get a plaque and serious bragging rights.
"There has been a lot of
smack talk over the past week as you can tell, between these officials. And it
has paid off," said American Red Cross Spokesperson Regina Raccuglia. "All the
smack talk is actually going to help us save lives."
The public was also
invited to come out and take part in the battle by giving blood and letting the
Red Cross know which department should receive credit for the donation.
"Red Cross is in desperate need of blood from
this community. And what better place to get that than from those of us who see
this need every day in our regular job," said Davidson County Sheriff Daron
Hall. "It's a good way for us to take a few minutes out of our day, give
back to the community."
