CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- The Clarksville Department of Electricity is warning customers about a potential scam.

Officials said that scammers are calling customers and telling them that the federal government will pay their utility bill in exchange for personal information. Customers are then given a fake bank account to use to pay their bill. CDE reminds customers they will never ask for personal information over the telephone or make threats to disconnect service if a customer does not provide personal information.
