NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two people were injured in a drive-by shooting in north Nashville on Sunday night.
Police said a woman and her friend were talking in her car in the parking lot at 3301 Creekwood Drive around 8:30 p.m. A man was talking to another woman nearby when a car drove through the parking lot, and a male suspect opened fire.
The woman inside the car was hit in the neck after a bullet came through her back window. Tonya Williams was released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Monday afternoon.
The man standing nearby took off running, and was shot in the leg. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police identified him as Aureus Jones. He had just been convicted of rape on Thursday and was sentenced to 10 years.
Police are still talking to witnesses to get a better description of the suspect. The investigation was ongoing.
