Mother And Daughter Reunited After 49 Years

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A Tennessee woman was reunited with her daughter this weekend for the first time in over 45 years.

"I never had a chance to see her first dance, I never had a chance to take her to school," says 67-year-old Clara Thompson.

Clara was 17 back in 1962 when her then boyfriend took her 6-month-old daughter from her, she thought it was the last time she'd ever see her little girl.

"I got to thinking as I got older that I wouldn't live to see her again," she adds.

But recently through the magic of Facebook, Clara's family managed to track down her daughter in North Carolina. The two met for the first time in 49 years this past weekend when Clara's daughter Tammy King  traveled to Tennessee.

"I don't care what happened back then, when I look in her eyes I don't care anymore, I know she loves me, we tell each other we love each other and hold hands, we're like two little school girls," says Tammy who is now 49.

On top of finding her mother, Tammy now has a whole host of new family members including sisters, an uncle and cousins.

"She's so special to me," Tammy adds.

Tammy will be traveling back to North Carolina at the end of the week but the two say this is only the beginning of their new relationship.
