ASHLAND, Ohio (AP) - North Carolina investigators said an Ohio woman whose body was dumped along the Outer Banks died from strangulation and stab wounds.
Dare County Sheriff Doug Doughtie said Tuesday the autopsy results mean officers nationwide are on the lookout for the woman's on-and-off boyfriend, 27-year-old Nathan Summerfield of Ashland, Ohio. He is wanted on a first-degree murder charge in the death of 33-year-old Lynn Jackenheimer of Ashland.
Jackenheimer disappeared earlier this month during a vacation with her children and Summerfield. Police said he returned the children to Ashland and drove away.
Summerfield's brother has told authorities that Summerfield said he strangled the woman.
Jackenheimer's body was found Saturday in a vacant lot in Frisco, about 20 to 30 miles south of where she'd been vacationing.
