Trip To Italy Puts Vols Back On Practice Court

Posted: Updated:

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Tennessee Volunteers are back on the court taking advantage of NCAA rules giving them 10 practices before they take off for an exhibition tour of Italy in August.

The Vols will play four exhibitions against club and professional Italian teams between Aug. 5 and 15 on the trip.

Junior guard Trae Golden said Tuesday the extra time together will help team chemistry and allow three newcomers to become adjusted to second-year coach Cuonzo Martin.

Golden had offseason knee surgery. He took part in the first practice Monday, which was closed to reporters. Senior forward Kenny Hall said it's just like practices during the season.

Senior forwards Jeronne Maymon and Dwight Miller also each had offseason knee surgery and are close to 100 percent.
