Wedding Day Rain For A Wedding Day Ring

Posted: Updated:

MADISON, Tenn.- While some men spend thousands of dollars on their bride-to-be's wedding ring, sometimes even selling a car or taking out a loan, one Madison man got a financial return on his purchase.

A bride to be fears nothing more in this world then rain on her wedding day. So when the skies began to open up on May 12th, 2012 you would think Ellie Stenberg would've been crushed.

"It was still pouring. It was just a downpour," she said.

But she wasn't. She was excited.

"The whole time I was like this is money, just free money," she explained.

Her excitement over a wedding day dampening downpour may sound downright delusional, but fell from the heavens that day though might as well have been, pure gold.

A half inch of rain, a promotion from Hancock Jewelers and a little luck were all it took to wash away a nine hundred dollar bill.

Thousands of rings have passed through the fingers of Cyndie Feeney. Including the one, that now sits on the hand of Ellie Stenberg.

The very same ring that because of a little rain cost the Stenberg's nothing.

"You definitely want it to rain on your wedding day, because you get your wedding rings for free what newlyweds couldn't use a little extra cash when they're first starting out," said Feeney.

Hancock Jewelers was able to take such a promotional risk thanks to a hefty insurance policy
