Mayor Dean Meeting With First Lady For ‘Let’s Move’ Campaign

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nashville Mayor Karl Dean will join First Lady Michelle Obama and a dozen other Mayors in Philadelphia Wednesday to announce a new healthy living initiative.

According to officials, the first Lady will announce public and private sector commitments to get our kids healthier as part of her Let's Move! initiative to solve the problem of childhood obesity within a generation.

Mayor Dean has been a big supporter of healthier living including his Walk 100 Miles with the Mayor health challenge.

Last year, more than 12,000 people took part in the Mayor's 5K walk and run.

The Mayor's work to build a city where healthy choices are the norm for all residents is ongoing with his budget including capital investments in things that support healthy living such as sidewalks, bikeways, sports fields, and interactive play parks.
