World's Only Electric Stretch Limousine Appears In Franklin
COOL SPRINGS, Tenn. - The first car of its kind has been seen driving around Franklin. It's the world's only electric stretch limousine.
The vehicle is a retrofitted Nissan Leaf and this stretch is totally juiced by a battery. A company in Missouri extended the compact electric car so it could fit up to eight people. Currently it is operating as courtesy shuttle at the Embassy Suites, which is just down the street from Nissan's North American headquarters. Even with the retro-fit of the Leaf this car is still green.
"We were conscious with the fact that we wanted to be sure what we put in the back was ecologically sound, didn't impact the power source, the range of the vehicle. It's comfortable in the back with decorative wood paneling, things like that," said Trevor Goulding, with Embassy Suites.
The retro-fit does cut down on battery life so the limo won't leave the Cool Springs area.
