COOKEVILLE, Tenn.- A convicted felon found napping in a stolen car with a sawed-off shotgun is back behind bars.
A state trooper spotted Kenny Mathis in a 1996 Mazda, pulled to the side of I-40 near Cookeville, asleep in the driver's seat. When the trooper approached the car he noticed the gun and woke Mathis up. The officers soon discovered the car was stolen, and Mathis was a convicted felon.
Mathis was charged with being a felon in possession of a weapon, and possession of a stolen vehicle. He was also charged with DUI after the officer noticed Mathis had red, watery eyes and smelled of alcohol.
