NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man was taken into custody for the alleged rape of a woman he met in downtown Nashville.

Jassim Al-Raash, 47, was taken into custody overnight. A police affidavit said the victim was waiting for a ride after work on Broadway on January 1, when Al-Raash approached her and offered her a ride.

Instead of taking her to her apartment, he took her to a remote parking lot. The report said he dragged her from the car to a grassy area hidden by trees and sexually assaulted her.

Based on information provided by the victim, detectives were able to track Al-Raash down.

He was charged with two counts of rape.

Al-Raash was held on $50,000 bond.
