MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - The 1862 Civil War raid by Confederate Col. Nathan Bedford Forrest in Murfreesboro will be commemorated this weekend in the city.

Encampments and living history programs are scheduled at Oaklands Mansion and at the Stones River National Battlefield from Friday through Sunday. After Forrest's raid into Murfreesboro, he accepted a Union surrender inside the mansion.

Scheduled are Confederate cavalry demonstrations, Union infantry programs, exhibits of Civil War clothing and civilian perspectives. The clothing will include women's dresses and undergarments, bonnets, men's clothing, accessories, shoes and photographs depicting the lifestyle typical of mid-19th century Victorian wardrobes.

The events are sponsored by Oaklands Historic House Museum and the Stones River National Battlefield.
