NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Several businesses were placed on lock down in West Nashville after a man with a gun entered a building on White Bridge Pike.
Metro Police said a man entered the Direct Auto Insurance on White Bridge Pike just after 4 p.m. Monday.
The manager of the store told police that he saw the man enter the business with a long barreled gun. The manager quickly hid and was able to sneak out of the business and went next door to call police.
Police have checked out a suspect who was familiar to the Direct Auto staff, but that person appears to have had no involvement.
The suspect was thought to have snuck out the back of the building before police entered. Officers continued to search the area.
Officials with Nashville State Community College canceled evening classes due to the situation on White Bridge Road. The shopping plaza was located across the street from the school. All students on campus were reported to be safe.
Police have not released the name of the suspect in this case.
