NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The 22-year-old pedestrian who was hit by a car in South Nashville on Monday night has died.

Police said 22-year-old Ricki Dawn Uselton had pulled off Old Hickory Boulevard and stopped her car near Brentwood Chase Drive  around 9:15 p.m. Monday. She then ran into Old Hickory Boulevard, and was struck by a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix. Police said it was unclear why she was in the roadway.

Uselton was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died Tuesday afternoon.

Uselton's wallet was found in the road, but her purse and phone were still in her car.

No charges were placed against the driver of the Pontiac, identified as 26-year-old Shawndra Moore. Police said the preliminary contributing factor was Uselton's presence in the road.

The Fatal Reconstruction team remained on the scene until early Tuesday morning.
