Steven Carlton
SMYRNA, Tenn. (AP) - A mother and son have waived their preliminary hearing in Smyrna in the shooting death of the mother's boyfriend, and the case will be sent to a grand jury.
Christina Rosa Magaddino and her 20-year-old son, Ryan Allen Roe, were arrested in the death of 38-year-old Steven Eugene Carlton of Murfreesboro. He was found dead earlier this month at a boat ramp off Percy Priest Lake.
Roe is charged with first-degree murder and his mother was charged as an accessory to murder after the fact. Both are charged with tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse. Prosecutors agreed Thursday to reduced bonds for both mother and son.
Police have not released a motive but have said that Magaddino helped her son move Carlton's body from her apartment in Smyrna.
