NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A teenager has pleaded guilty to the murder of a 14-year-old boy in 2010.

Donquise Alexander, who was 14 at the time of the murder, entered a plea to second degree murder in Davidson County Criminal Court on Thursday morning. Alexander will serve 30 years in prison at 100 percent.

Alexander allegedly shot and killed 14-year-old Vincent Lewis on July 8, 2010. Police said Lewis and Alexander, along with two other friends, were talking and smoking marijuana outside an apartment building on 6th Avenue North.

Police said Alexander left, and came back with a rifle demanding money and marijuana from Lewis. After a struggle with the gun, Alexander shot Lewis several times.

Lewis died immediately. His body was found by a maintenance man outside a duplex and he called police.

Alexander and the two other teens left and went downtown. Alexander was identified as the shooter after three-weeks of investigation, and his mother turned him in to police.

His case was later transferred from juvenile court.
