KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - An East Tennessee judge has agreed to send an adult teen, abandoned by her mother in a bar, back to her home state of Illinois.
According to The Knoxville News Sentinel, Judge John McAfee ruled for Campbell County Chancery Court on Wednesday that Illinois officials will assume custody of 19-year-old Lynn Cameron.
The intellectually disabled teen was left in a Caryville bar June 28. Eva Cameron told police that she left her daughter because "she couldn't handle her anymore."
McAfee noted that Illinois officials have found a suitable placement for Lynn Cameron that will provide appropriate services to her.
Eva Cameron is from Algonquin, Illinois. She told police she couldn't take care of both Lynn and a younger daughter, who is also disabled. No charges were filed.
