NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee Right to Life has endorsed Diane Black in her bid for a second term in Congress.
The group's Karen Brukardt said in a statement that Black is "one of Tennessee's most effective pro-life legislators ever."
While serving in the Tennessee General Assembly, Black sponsored legislation placing a constitutional amendment on the ballot in 2014 that could allow the state to impose stricter limits on abortions. She has also worked to defund Planned Parenthood because the women's health organization performs abortions.
Black is currently in a heated primary race for the 6th District seat against Lou Ann Zelenik.
Black beat Zelenik by fewer than 400 votes in the 2010 Republican primary.
