Representative Cooper Wants Congress On Good Behavior

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Representative Jim Cooper is getting more ink for his "No Budget, No Pay" bill.

The Fifth District democrat wrote about the proposal in the Atlantic, insisting that as long as Congress can't pass a budget, it should not be allowed to collect its pay.

Cooper said "Today's Congress has not passed a budget in three years and has not completed all of its budget and appropriations bills on time in 15-years. Few incumbents can even remember meeting these obligations. This is no way to run a superpower."

Cooper pointed to the California legislature, who passed a similar bill. He says that overnight, budgets were passed on time, without delay in that state.
