STRAWBERRY PLAINS, Tenn. (AP) - The Sevier County Sheriff's Office said a man who stopped to help when he saw a wrecked car was shot at and his truck was stolen.
The Mountain Press reported Bobby Hillard wasn't wounded in the incident Wednesday morning, but he had a minor injury from falling down when he was fired at.
After the man he stopped to help took off in Hillard's pickup, the victim called 911. The carjacker didn't get far, wrecking Hillard's truck nearby and taking off on foot.
Later, Jefferson County sheriff's deputies found 19-year-old Farris Jay Dobbins hiding in the bed of anther pickup and arrested him. Hillard identified him by sight.
Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals said investigators found a handgun stolen in Knox County as they searched the wrecked truck.
