NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Sunday
was the second day of Titans' training camp and the first chance fans got to
see the new players in action.
Fans waited in line hours
before the gates opened at Baptist Sports Park to do more than just watch a
little football. They also got to meet their favorite players face-to-face.
Before practice, players came out to sign autographs and even throw the ball
around with some kids. Of course the big talk on the field was who would get
that coveted starting quarterback position, Jack Locker or Matt Hasselbeck.
Matt Hasselbeck and Jake
Locker have a little more than three weeks to stake a claim to the job.
Titans coach Mike Munchak
threw the position open for competition during the off season. Hasselbeck had a
solid year as a free agent addition in 2011 and has been mentoring Locker, the
former first-round pick.
The quarterbacks alternated
reps during the first practice Saturday, a pattern that is likely to continue
until a decision is made. Munchak says he wants that decision made by the third
game of the preseason, Aug. 23 against Arizona, for the good of team chemistry
and preparation for the regular season.
