JASPER, Tenn. (AP) - Marion County officials are trying to decide how to dispose of five ambulances.
When the county switched ambulance service providers from Grandview Medical to Puckett EMS, the contract with Grandview required the county to buy back six ambulances. Grandview was able to sell one of them before the contract ended.
Commissioner Donald Blansett told the Chattanooga Times Free Press there was no choice by contract but to repurchase the vehicles. The county recently advertised for bids on the ambulances, but received none. The vehicles are stored at the county highway department.
Blansett said the county wouldn't be able to recover the money it has in the ambulances if they went to auction.
