NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man was arrested after allegedly firing a BB handgun from his vehicle at three people sitting on a bus bench in north Nashville overnight.

Jonathan Polk, 19, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, reckless driving and driving without a license.

The victims, Jessica Doyle, 25, Cynthia Maciaz, 40, and James Knight, 49, told police that they knew Polk from a recent incident where he allegedly took Doyle's cell phone. All three were sitting on the bench across from a convenience store on Dickerson Pike when Polk allegedly drove by and fired the BB gun. All three were struck by BBs, but refused medical treatment.

An officer was talking to the victims when they spotted Polk driving by in a silver Chevrolet Impala. After he saw the patrol car, he allegedly sped off, ran a stop sign at Joseph Avenue and Cleveland Street and struck an SUV. Polk was taken into custody without incident.

No one was seriously injured.

A loaded BB gun was recovered from the Impala.

Polk was held in lieu of $56,000 bond.
