MURFREESBORO, Tenn.- Opponents of the Murfreesboro Islamic Center have filed a motion challenging a federal court ruling that allows the facility to open.
In the briefing the plaintiffs call themselves "victims" of the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro, and the county's zoning resolution that approved plans for the facility on Veals Road. The motion also says the plaintiffs' constitutional rights were violated.
Earlier this month, a Federal judge ruled the congregation of the Islamic Center could start using the building once it met occupancy requirements.
That ruling overturned a Rutherford County judge's decision denying the center an occupancy permit.
