Cadiz, Kentucky Police Warn Of Hotel Scam

Posted: Updated:

CADIZ, Ky. - Police in Cadiz, Kentucky are warning residents and tourists about a potential scam occurring at local hotels in the area.

Officials said that a person posing as a hotel employee called the Super 8 Motel on Hospitality Lane and told a customer that he was due a refund on the room. The scammer then asked for the customer's credit card information.

The manager of the hotel was alerted by the customer of the scam and notified police. Investigators believe that this type of scam has become common across the country; although this was the first time the scam was reported in Kentucky.

Police said customers at any local hotel should be wary of any person calling and claiming to be from hotel staff. If there is any doubt about the legitimacy of the call, police recommend hanging up and calling the front desk back or simply going to the front desk in person.
