Zelenik Concedes To Black In Congressional Race

Posted: Updated:

Mt. JULIET, Tenn.- District 6 challenger Lou Ann Zelenik has conceded the race to incumbent Diane Black.

Zelenik ran against Black in a tight race for the congressional seat two years ago and on Thursday she said she made 283 calls, the exact number she lost by in 2010.

"We focused on the issues and we continue to focus on the issues," said Zelenik in a speech Thursday night. "I congratulate my opponent and I hope she really moves mountains to stop the spending,"

Zelenik said this has been a negative race but claims that negativity has been from the Black camp. So she cast her ballot in hopes of getting a chance to move onto the general election in November despite what she called base-less attacks during the primary.

Zelenik will return to working for the Tennessee Freedom Coalition.
