Clarksville Alternative School Principal Charged With DUI

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - A principal in charge of students with a troubled past is now facing his own legal issues.

Eduard Stevens is the principal at the Alternative School in Clarksville. On Saturday, Clarksville Police stopped him on Fort Campbell Boulevard for allegedly speeding. They said they smelled alcohol on his breath.

Police reports show he failed a field sobriety test. He was charged with DUI and possessing a handgun while under the influence.

On Monday, Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools released this statement:

"Mr. Ed Stephens has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the School System's investigation and his due process rights. Jeanine Chester, chief human resources officer for Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools, said: "We take the allegations and arrest very seriously;and, we will make an informed and appropriate decision.

"Meanwhile, Dr. Kim Sigears, at-risk coordinator for CMCSS, will oversee administrative duties of the Alternative School."
