GALLATIN, Tenn.- The fate
of some Sumner County teachers was still up in the air Sunday night. The County
Commission has called a special meeting Monday night that could determine if
some employees will lose their jobs.
All this happened after the
board voted to postpone starting school until the budget can be finalized. District
leaders say after years of cuts, they need an additional $7.6 million to
maintain a high quality education for students.
Commissioners say there's
not enough money available without a tax increase. County commissioners meet Monday night at
6:30, and they are expected to vote on the budget.
