NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Metro Council voted to appoint Brenda Wynn as Interim County Clerk in their Tuesday night meeting.
Wynn will inherit a scandal-tainted office from John Arriola, who came under fire after a NewsChannel 5 investigation found that he was pocketing a cash fee for weddings performed at the office. Wynn says she will order an audit of the office's finances and ban any gratuities for services performed there.
Mayor Karl Dean released the following statement after the Metro Council appointed Brenda Wynn as Davidson County Clerk:
"Brenda Wynn has spent her career in public service and has a great deal of experience serving constituents and managing operations. She is a well-respected and effective community leader that the public can have confidence in. I congratulate her on her appointment and look forward to her service as Davidson County Clerk."
