WARREN COUNTY, Tenn. - The director of the Warren County Animal Control has been arrested in connection with a marijuana grow operation found behind the shelter.
Tammy Webb was arrested Monday after being indicted on charges of manufacture, delivery and sale of marijuana. Her son, Jonathan Ewell Smith, was charged last month after he was allegedly caught in the marijuana field tending to the plants.
Investigators said Webb bought the garden hoses and potting soil for the 36 marijuana plants found in the field.
Webb was placed on paid-leave from the shelter for the past month pending the outcome of the investigation.
Webb and her son both continue to deny they had anything to do with the marijuana plants growing on the Animal Control shelter property.
County Executive John Pelham said Smith was actually working at the facility for his mother. She was paying him out of her own pocket to help him pay off some fines.
Smith had several prior arrests for DUI and possession of marijuana.
