DICKSON, Tenn.- A Dickson County woman was shot in the leg after a gun fell out from under her mattress.
The incident happened early Monday morning. Police said that 46-year-old Lori A. Green was changing sheets inside her home when a 357-caliber pistol kept under her mattress fell out and shot once just below her knee.
Detective Andy Davis of the Dickson County Sheriff's Office said that Green pulled the mattress cover off the bed, which knocked the handgun to the floor causing it to discharge. Green was taken by emergency medical helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.
Police have concluded the shooting was accidental.
