NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A former pastor has been sentenced after he was convicted in May of sexually assaulting a young girl in his church.

Officials from District Attorney's office said that John T. Vine was sentenced to serve 22 years in prison. Vine was the pastor at Faith United Church in North Nashville when he assaulted a 12-year-old girl whose family he had befriended.

Court records indicated that the assaults on the victim began when she was 12 years old and continued until she was 13. During the trial, another female victim came forward and reported being sexually assaulted by him.
