NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man was taken into police custody overnight after the SWAT team swarmed an apartment complex south of downtown Nashville.
Police went to serve several warrants on Timothy Giffords around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, but he refused to come out of his house on Napier Street.
The SWAT team was brought in, and ordered Giffords out of the home over a PA system. He refused to come out for about two hours, but was taken into custody.
Giffords had nine outstanding warrants, eight of which were felony warrants including aggravated robbery and aggravated assault. Police said that made them extra careful.
"Based on that history we weren't sure if he had access to a weapon or if he had a weapon inside the home so that's why the SRT officers responded," said Metro Police Captain Kenneth Walburn
It was possible he could face more charges.
