NEW YORK (AP) - A New York City man has pleaded guilty to charges he abducted and dismembered an 8-year-old boy.

Levi Aron entered the plea Thursday in one of the city's most gruesome crimes in recent memory. It will result in a sentence of 40 years to life in prison.

Relatives of the victim, Leiby Kletzky, had said they supported the plea deal because they wanted to avoid the pain of a trial.

Police say Leiby got lost in Brooklyn after leaving a day camp. He asked the suspect for help before he was killed.

He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and kidnapping.
