Tee Jackson
GILES COUNTY, Tenn.- Budget woes in Giles County have forced out the superintendent.
On Thursday, during a school board meeting Giles County Schools Superintendent announced his retirement. Tee Jackson said he will retire amid criticism from board members.
Much of the criticism came from how the school system handled layoffs when budgets were tight. At least 70 teachers and staff retired, resigned or were laid off many say without prior notice.
School Board member Don Storey has called for Jackson's retirement or resignation after concerns over how the layoffs and overall budget cuts were handled.
