SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn.- While most kids want summer to last as long as possible one group of kids in Sumner County can't wait for school to start.
A group of young girls weighed in on the school budget battle that has caused indefinitely delay to the start of schools in Sumner County. They say it's time to pull things together and for students to get back to class.
"We really want to go back to school, most of the time we just want summer, but when it's threatening when we graduate and taking away our breaks and stuff and our fall sports, then we really want to get back," said Haley Ellot, a Senior at Beech High School.
The budget battle between the board of education and the county commission took a step forward Thursday night after board members voted to make more cuts. They're asking county commissioners for $2.7 million more.
The Sumner County Commission has called a meeting for Monday evening to discuss the issue.
