Family Friends Honor Son's Memory with Service Project

Posted: Updated:

FRANKLIN, Tenn.- Earlier this year, 18-year-old Ty Osman, Jr. died when he stopped to help a driver and was hit by a passing car. Saturday morning, his friends and family came together to honor his memory by helping others just like Ty did.

Hundreds showed up for a building project, in the Hard Bargain neighborhood in Franklin called Ty Us2Gether. The group spent the day turning an aging building into a brand-new community center. Volunteers also did gardening work, cleaned up street corners and visited with neighbors.

"One of the unique things about him, he loved to serve, and did a lot of things like that -- a lot of service projects, so this would be right up his alley , something he'd love and be right in the middle of," said Ty Osman, Sr. " And he'd be really honored to know this was going on in his name, in his memory, for sure."
