CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) - Authorities said two brothers from Hopkinsville, Kentucky drowned during a weekend visit to southern Illinois.
Jackson County investigators said 14-year-old Lewis Monson and 12-year-old Alick Monson were visiting friends in Carbondale when they were found unresponsive Saturday night in a swimming pool.
The brothers were later declared dead at a hospital.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Department said the case is being investigated as an accidental drowning.
Relatives said the boys were brought to Carbondale by their older brother and had plans to return to Kentucky on Sunday.
