Attempted Murder Suspect Taken Into Custody

SMRYNA, Tenn. - Smyrna Police said a man wanted for attempted murder has been taken into custody.

Eli Ian Collier, 50, was arrested early Tuesday morning with the assistance of the La Vergne Police Department. No other details about his arrest were released.

Officials with the Smyrna Police Department said Collier stabbed Bryan Effler at Effler's home on Moore Avenue Saturday.

Effler was stabbed in his arm and through this right rib cage. He was transported by emergency medical helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center and underwent emergency surgery. Effler was last listed in stable but serious condition.

Collier was said to have fled the scene with his girlfriend Sherry Jenkins in a red Ford Focus. Police said Collier had outstanding warrants.
