Jonathan Hargadine (Clarksville Police)
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Clarksville man was charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a friend after losing a wrestling match.
Jonathan Hargadine, 49, was charged with criminal attempt to commit homicide.
Police said Hargadine had some friends over to his house on Pembroke Road for a dinner on Wednesday night. At some point, Hargadine and 20-year-old Jason Bennett began a friendly wrestling match, in which Hargadine was deemed the loser.
After the loss, witnesses told police Hargadine allegedly went into his office, retrieved a "Bowie Knife" and stabbed Bennett in the right side of his chest.
Bennett and his girlfriend left the home, drove to the nearby Kangaroo Express and called police and EMS. Bennett was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
Police went to Hargadine's home, where he was found sleeping on the couch, and took him into custody.
Hargadine was booked into Montgomery County Jail, where he was held on $250,000 bond.
