CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Chattanooga police officers have fatally shot a man who confronted them during a home invasion.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press reported the incident occurred early Tuesday. A second suspect was arrested.
Chattanooga Police Chief Bobby Dodd said a neighbor saw two men kick in the door of a home and called police. Officers were nearby responding to another call and quickly arrived on the scene where they saw a man leaving the house, armed with a long gun. Dodd said the man confronted officers with the weapon and was shot.
Neighbors said there they heard several gunshots.
The names of the man killed and the one arrested were not immediately released. Police said there were four or five victims of the crime.
The TBI is investigating, which is routine.
