One Killed, One Injured In Crash On I-24 West In Coffee Co.
COFFEE COUNTY, Tenn. - One person was killed and another was injured in a one vehicle crash on Interstate 24 westbound in Coffee County.
The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at mile marker 122.
A report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol said a 2007 Nissan Versa went off the left side of the roadway, overcorrected and crossed both lanes of traffic. The driver, identified as 62-year-old Wendell Reed, overcorrected again, causing the car to lose control.
The car went back across the interstate, running off the roadway into the median and rolled several times.
Reed died on the scene. A passenger in the SUV, identified as 57-year-old William Dewolfe, was injured.
The report said both were wearing their seatbelts.
