Report Chides TSU Administrators, Board Of Regents

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - TSU has been formally cleared of allegations of grade-fixing, but a report from state lawmakers is also taking administrators and the Board of Regents to task for its unclear policies.

The State Senate Subcommittee on Higher Education investigated the claims against TSU that staffers inappropriately changed grades of some students. The allegations were brought by a professor.

The subcommittee found no evidence of academic fraud, but blamed the problems on "poor communication and a series of missteps."

It went on to recommend that academic departments keep grade records and update the faculty handbook. The report also had some choice words for the Board of Regents, saying one of their guidelines was so poorly written that it would receive marks on a college freshman essay.
