NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A Metro Police officer has resigned from the force being arrested on domestic assault charges.
Officials said Patrol Officer Albert Ridgeway acknowledged he was guilty of conduct unbecoming of an officer and submitted his resigation Wednesday. It is effective after he serves a 30-day unpaid suspension.
The 36-year-old was decommissioned following an investigation into a domestic assault. According to documents, Ridgeway pushed his girlfriend down several times during an argument at their home in Mt. Juliet. She called police and filed charges against Ridgeway.
In an agreement with the police department, Ridgeway received the suspension on the condition that he submit an irrevocable letter of resignation. An administrative investigation was closed.
Ridgeway was a six-year veteran officer. He had been assigned to the Central Precinct.
