NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Interstate 40 westbound in Bellevue has been reopened after a crash involving injuries.

The wreck occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m. Thursday just past exit 196. At least two cars and two 18-wheelers were involved.

It was unclear how serious the injuries were, but at least one ambulance was on the scene.

Both sides of the interstate were blocked for some time, but the eastbound lanes opened soon after the crash. Westbound traffic was diverted to alternate routes, but was still backed up for miles.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation reopened westbound lanes just before 5 p.m.
