Suspect In Slaying Ordered Held Without Bond

BENTON, Tenn. (AP) - A man charged with fatally shooting three members of his family isn't being allowed bond.

According to the Cleveland Daily Banner, George Steven Waters was ordered held without bail at his initial court appearance Wednesday in Polk County General Sessions Court.

The 33-year-old Waters was charged Friday with three counts of first-degree murder.

Investigators said a property line dispute led to the killing of 61-year-old Willard Waters, 59-year-old Wanda Waters and 40-year-old Marion Doug Waters on a gravel road near Copperhill. All five houses on the road belong to members of the Waters family.

TBI spokeswoman Kristen Helm said the shooting occurred during the grading of a driveway.

The court set George Waters' preliminary hearing for November 14.
